Alfred R. Hess Jr.

Alfred R. “Bud” Hess Jr., 83, of Peoria, IL passed away on Saturday, March 25, 2023 at his residence. Bud was born in Peoria, IL. on March 28, 1939 to the late Alfred R. Sr. and Marguerite (Thomas) Hess.

Bud was an over the road truck driver for close to 50 years, retiring in 2015. Along with his brothers, Bud was a founding member of the Voltars Motorcycle Club in the mid 1970’s. In later years, he was proudly joined by his three sons.

Bud is survived by his five children, Tammy (Kurt) Boehme of Taylorville, IL., Dan (Lisa) Hess of Pekin IL., Penny (Armando) Gonzales of Marquette Heights IL., Randy Hess of Peoria IL., and Mandy Hess of Bartonville IL; five brothers, Sam Hess, Rich Hess, Dave Hittle, Tony Hittle, and James Hittle; three sisters, Ruth Houlihan, Cindy Waters, and Pam Weber; as well as 27 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by two sisters Shirley Dunham and Donna Barton and most recently, his son Richard A. Hess on January 12, 2023. Bud will be greatly missed and remembered fondly by many.

A celebration of life will be held at Da Joint 1039 S. Laramie St in Peoria on April 15, 2023 at 2:00 pm. Cards can be sent from and condolences left at Illinicremation.com
