Claudia Jean Parkman, age 71, of Peoria, IL., transitioned to glory on June 7, 2022, at 12:30 pm at home with her loved ones by her side. On October 23, 1950, Claudia was born in Drew, Mississippi, to Cora Bell Liston-Smith and Charlie Scott. Claudia was married to James Parkman on May 20, 1968-1995.
Claudia leaves to cherish her loving memory four daughters, Felicia M.Parkman, Nikita J. Parkman, Stacy L. Parkman, and Jammie (Cornell) Brooks, all of Peoria, IL. Special niece Michelle Burton of Minnesota, Siblings Henry (Mary) Bolden Sr., Mary Burton, Rosie Smith, Earl Smith, Betty Scott, Larry Scott, and Maxine (Naymond Jr.) Williams, all of Peoria, IL., and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Claudia was a graduate of Peoria Manual High School Class of 67. Claudia was employed for 38 years by employers Caterpillar Inc., Eurest Dining Services, and District 150. Claudia retired from Eurest in April 2008 but wanted to continue to work after retirement, so she gained employment with District 150, where she left due to health concerns in 2021.
Claudia was a member of the Pentecostal Church of Jesus Christ, where she was baptized and filled the Holy Ghost on September 6, 2021. Although Claudia received the Lord later in life, she always had a personal relationship with her savior. She would write her prayers out and keep them in her bible. After Claudia's visit from the Lord, she was always concerned for others' souls and talked to various family members about their intimate relationship with God. Claudia was an adamant shopper and coin collector. JCPenney was her closes friend. Claudia had a sense of humor like no other and was the life of the party when she was in the room. Claudia enjoyed being around her family and friends, especially if the Pizza Ranch was the gathering place.
Claudia is preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and two sisters.
The Memorial Service for Claudia will be held at the Pentecostal Church of Jesus Christ, located at 401 Elm St, Peoria, IL 61605. The Memorial Service will start at 12 pm. Visitation will be 11am-Noon June 17.
