Dagmar J. Merrick

Dagmar Joyce Merrick, 95, of Peoria, IL, passed away on Wednesday, December 18, 2024 at 8:20am at AC Skylines in Peoria. Dagmar was born on November 26, 1929, in Akeley, MN to Emil and Lilly (Lystad) Gustafson. She married Daniel B. Merrick on August 8, 1952. Dagmar was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel, her sons, Phillip and David, and her granddaughter, Lily, as well as her parents and 5 siblings.

Surviving are 2 daughters, Linda (Randy) Williams of Peoria and Karen Merrick of Peoria and 1 daughter-in-law Carol (David) Merrick of Ozawkie, KS. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren – Lisa (Travis) Copenhaver, Weylin (Cynthia) Williams, Emily (Keith Bariault) Williams, Jacob (Betsy) Williams, Mason (Debra Kreps) Fitch, Hannah (Olivier Assaf-Chauvin) Fitch, Katie Fitch and Daniel Merrick. And she had 14 great-grandchildren – Gavin Copenhaver, Dylan Copenhaver, Tyler Williams, Brianna (Wyatt Kuehl) Williams, Peyton Williams, Kyle Williams, Eli Williams, Bella Williams, Merrick Williams, Jaxon Bariault, Marshall Williams, Garrett Williams, Hudson Wronkiewicz, and Lily Wronkiewicz. She also had one great-great- grandchild, Archer Kuehl. 

Also surviving are one brother, Bob (Audrey) Gustafson and one sister, Lillian (Jim) Mitchell and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2025, 11 am, at First Christian Church in Peoria, IL. There will not be a formal visitation, however displays will be ready by 10 am on the 25th with coffee and pastries available. Lunch will be served immediately following the service.
