Edda Entrican

January 6, 1940 — February 11, 2024

Peoria Heights, Illinois

Edda Entrican, 84, of Peoria Heights Illinois, died on February 11, 2024 at Carle Health Proctor Hospital in Peoria, Illinois. Born in Kaiserslautern Germany on January 6, 1940 to the late Heinrich and Margarete (Munnich) Schober, she immigrated to the United States in June 1958 and became an American citizen in September 1997.

Edda started her career as a waitress at the Rockette Restaurant in Bartonville. She spent most of her work years as the Food Manager at Kresge’s in Sheridan Village, but was also employed by Kmart, IGA, and LeBakery. Edda was without equal in her approach to labor. She was focused, organized, and persistent. Edda was never without work or a task to be completed.

Edda was a devoted and selfless mother to her children and delighted in kindhearted care for her grandchildren. She took special pride in preparing favorite recipes for her family. She loved going to lunch with her friends and making everyone laugh. She also enjoyed card games, solving puzzles, and tending to the birds & squirrels drawn to her presence. Edda could be assertive at times but the source of her behavior was always a profound commitment to the well-being of her family and friends. Life was difficult at times but a deep sense of responsibility and perseverance enabled Edda to independently overcome many challenges. Her gentle presence radiated love.  To “have a good one” was her wish to all she knew.

Edda is survived by daughter Barbara Marie (Tony) Honings; son Bert Arthur (Kathy) Entrican; brother Otto Johann of Peoria, IL and her sister Helga Hohn of Kaiserslautern Germany; grandchildren David Entrican, Ronald Entrican, Barbara Knoblauch, Melissa Entrican, Matthew (Melissa) Nicholson, Joe (Emily) Honings, and great grandchildren Jayde & Amelia. She was looking forward to the arrival of another great grandchild this spring.
