Eugene Frosig Jr.

Eugene "Gene" Frosig 90 of Abingdon Illinois, formerly Middlegrove Illinois, passed away Sunday July 23 2023 at Richard Owens Hospice Center in Peoria Illinois. Gene was born Oct 8 1932 in Peoria to the late Eugene and Addie G (Strawn) Frosig.

He married Beverly Vlahovich on Feb 10 1957, to this union they had 4 children. Beverly passed away in July 1982. In April 1989 he married Betty Housenga. For several years they resided near Middlegrove, then moved to Abingdon. Gene worked at Keystone Steel and Wire in Bartonville Illinois until his retirement.

In his younger years he liked to race stock cars and ride motorcycles. He also enjoyed fishing, working with wood and being outdoors.

  He is survived by wife Betty; sons Mark (Sharon) of Gilson, Joe of Williamsfield Illinois; daughters Cheryl Kay of Liberty Kentucky, Pebbles (Tim) Donahue of Toulon Illinois; Stepdaughters Marla (PJ) Kumpf of Glasford Illinois, Mona (Neal) Buhl of Edwards Illinois; stepson Mike (Tina) Housenga of Peoria, Sister Roma (Ernie) Cotelleso of Hanna City; 3 Grandkids; 6 Great Grandkids; 4 Step Grandkids; and Numerous nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by 3 brothers and 1 sister.

Per Gene's wishes Cremation rites have been accorded and there will be no services. Cards can be sent from and condolences left at illinicremation.com
