John M. Kelley

John M. Kelley, 87, of Snyder Village, formerly Peoria, passed away on August 21, 2022 at UnityPoint Proctor in Peoria
John was born on May 10, 1935 in McClure Illinois to Barney J. and Orpha O. (Lawson) Kelley. He married Nancy J. Huser in 1954. She preceded him in death in 1982. He later married Phyllis Sue Martin on January 13, 1986. She preceded him in death on April 8, 2021. He was also preceded by two sisters Bonita Sommerville and Joy Glover.
Surviving are his three children, Becky Lynn (Randy) Marvin, Michael David Kelley and John Andrew (Leslie) Kelley; five stepchildren Michael David (Kelly) Martin, Matthew Gale (Jill) Martin, Mitchell Jason )Erin) Martin, Loree Sue (Stanley) Haffner, Lisa Ann (Tom) Blank; four grandsons; two granddaughters; eight step grandsons; seven step granddaughters; nine great grandchildren; and four step great grandchildren.
John worked for Central Illinois Light Company for 38 years retiring in 1992 as general supervisor in electric operations.
John enjoyed many hobbies including golf, hunting, fishing, and shooting sports. He also enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren play in their many athletic endeavors. He was cofounder of River Valley Sportsman‘s Club in East Peoria in 1964. John enjoyed many trips throughout the country.
A celebration of life open house will be held Saturday, August 27 from 1 to 4 at Barracks Cater Inn at1224 W. Pioneer Parkway in Peoria. Cremation rights have been accorded and a private graveside burial will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to Saint Jude or Ronald McDonald House in Peoria. illinicremation.com is assisting the family.
