Johnnie L Cummings

Johnnie L. Cummings, 74, of Peoria Illinois, died on April 19, 2023 at Carle Methodist Medical Center in Peoria. surronded by his loving family. Born on June 20, 1948 in Memphis Tennessee to Moses and Leaora (Taylor) Cummings, he married Everlene Williams on September 5, 1971 in Charleston Missouri.

John was a faithful devout member of Jehovah’s Witnesses, spending many days in door-to-door ministry and telling anyone  he came into contact with about Jehovah. He loved fishing, race cars, tractor pulls, and fixing autos. He was a jokester, and loved by all.  He was a gentle giant that captured the hearts of everyone he came in contact with.  We will see you again dad in Paradice.

John is survived by his wife Everlene Cummings at home; mother Leaora Taylor of Lee’s Summit Missouri; children April Cummings of Peoria, Gerald (Sonya) Cummings of Peoria, Reggie Cummings of Peoria, John Cummings of Indianapolis; siblings Michael (Mildred) Cummings of Peoria, Thelma (Wallace) Tillman of Lee Summit Missouri, Charles Cummings of Dallas North Carolina, in-laws Ray (Dawn) Anderson, Willie Anderson of Peoria, Ronald Jones of Wyatt Missouri, Teresa Greer of Wyatt Missouri, Chris Jones of Wyatt Missouri, Bobby Jones of Hayti, Missouri; 14 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces nephews, cousins and friends. He was also preceded in death by  daughter: Alicia Cummings, son: John Cummings, Jr., special aunt Lorean Lang,  Mother-in-Law, Ethel Jones, brother: Joey Gant and granddaughter: Arnazia Gayton.

Cremation rites have been accorded and the celebration of life will be held at the Itoo Hall  in Peoria IL, on May 7th at 1pm.  Cards can be sent from and condolences left at illinicremation.com.
