Juanita Della Roof

Juanita Della Roof, 95, of Peoria Illinois, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2024. Juanita was born in Peoria on September 5, 1928 to the late Russell and Agnes (Kinsman) Kurfman. She was the oldest of 5 children, with younger siblings George and Donnie Kurfman who preceded her in death and brothers Bill and Allen Kurfman who survive. Juanita married Eldon Roof on November 13, 1948 and they remained married for 48 years until Eldon passed away January 28, 1997. 

She is survived by her 4 children, Steve (Karen) Roof of Kimberling City, MO, Mike (Ann) Roof of Groveland, IL, Linda (Kevin) Collins of Sebastian, FL, and Norman Roof of San Antonio, TX. Juanita has 11 loving Grandchildren and many, many beautiful Great Grandchildren. 

Throughout the years, as a Mom and Grandma, Juanita was an avid supporter and fan at so many of her kids and grandkids sporting events, recitals, school plays and church programs, that it would be impossible to count high enough to tally them all. As a talented seamstress, quilter, knitter, and cross stitcher, Juanita loved gifting her family with beautifully crafted presents that she patiently, lovingly and masterfully made for each of them. Juanita was always keen to go fishing and mushroom hunting. She painstakingly collected and cracked black walnuts so that she could pick out the meats and then add them to the delicious cookies and candies that she made and generously gave to her friends and family each Christmas. She enjoyed playing pinochle with her friends until well into her 90’s. Juanita was a frequent attendee and longtime member of Northwoods Community Church. First and foremost, Juanita loved Jesus with all her heart and she was ready and eager to meet her beloved Savior face to face. It is safe to say that she is happily and finally home. 

Cremation rites have been accorded and as per Juanita's wishes there will be no services. Cards can be sent from and condolences left at Illinicremation.com.
