Mr. Larry J. Branan

Larry J. Branan, 77, of Peoria, passed away on January 15, 2025, at 8:15 a.m. at OSF St. Francis Hospital. He was born on January 26, 1947, in Peoria, IL, to Lester and Francelia (Sumter) Branan. On December 13, 1991, he married the love of his life, Linda Bunch, in Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Timothy Branan. 

He is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Linda; his children, Stacey (Danny) Reed and Shane (Kim) Branan; his grandchildren, Demi (Jack) Habegger and Pierce Branan; his great-grandson, Lio’n Branan; and his sister, Judy (John) Walker. 

Larry was a man of many passions and talents, leaving a lasting legacy in his community. His journey began with his family's business, Les’s Paint & Supply, a cherished establishment on Western Avenue. During the 1980s, Larry became deeply involved with hockey, contributing to the success of the Peoria Blades, coaching the Peoria Central hockey team, and working for both the Peoria Prancers and Peoria Rivermen. 

In addition to his love for hockey, Larry was an avid motorsports enthusiast. He was part owner of a dirt track late model race car, #75 and spent countless hours in the garage, helping out and enjoying the company of family and friends around his favorite modified car, #97. Larry's leadership extended to his role as President of the Illinois Valley Figure Skating Club, where he fostered a love for skating in the community. He later owned and operated ABS Air Systems, continuing his entrepreneurial spirit. 

Larry will always be remembered for his kindness, dedication, and the lasting impact he made on those who knew him. He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church.

Above all, Larry’s greatest joy was his family. He cherished watching his granddaughter, Demi, play basketball and was a devoted fan of the Peoria Chiefs, rarely missing a game.

A Celebration of Life will be held on April 5, 2025 at 5:00, at the Childers Banquet Center, to honor his legacy and the countless memories he created.
