Linda Lou (Osborne) Gooch, 75, of Lebanon Missouri, died on October 29, 2023 at Toulon Rehabilitation and Healthcare in Toulon, Illinois. Her eldest son, Bob, stayed by her side throughout her last year. Born in Peoria Illinois on December 29, 1947 to the late Carl and Alice (Saul) Mundinger. She married Bobby Gooch on Valentines Day 2005 in Laclede County, Missouri. Bobby passed on 03/02/2017. Linda is survived by her sister, Carol Krei of Peoria, Illinois and her children, Robert Osborne of Hanna City, Illinois, Bradley Osborne of Houston, Missouri, and Lara Osborne of Tulsa, Oklahoma. She leaves behind 14 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and her best friend, Gwen Gooch of Lebanon, Missouri.
Linda was a former manager of Casey’s Convenience Store in Lebanon. She often reminisced about her time there and said how much she loved it and missed all of her employees and customers that had become like family.
Before his death, Linda enjoyed dancing with her husband, Bobby. The two were often the main attraction on the dance floor. Linda always wore outfits that would have tassels and fringe that would move as she danced and she said that Bobby was a good lead. Linda enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Matt and Vickie Waterman, of Lebanon, cared for her often and would take Linda to Walmart where she would buy her favorites, popcorn and grape Kool-Aid. She spent many sunsets talking on the porch with her neighbor, Connie, but she was most often found laughing with her best friend, Gwen. The two were quite the pair and always referred to themselves as ‘Thelma and Louise.’ She loved to collect Wizard of Oz figurines with her granddaughters, Elizabeth and Jessica, a favorite movie they enjoyed watching over and over together. Her most special time was spent time laughing with her ‘Little Evy'. But her most favorite thing, her pride and joy, and what she was most known for, was her Christmas tree, and to say that Linda was obsessive about decorating her tree is an understatement. Every year, Linda would spend weeks, meticulously wrapping every branch in lights, making sure to hide every wire, adding special ornaments made of glass or mirrors that she set upon rotating hooks. Those ornaments would spin and dance in the lights of the tree, but also, her tree would spin as well. All of these special pieces and all of her work, combined to created a magical, twinkling Christmas wonderland in her home, as the lights danced upon the ornaments, with every spin and turn. It was definitely a sight to behold!
Linda was certainly a person that left a lasting impression, with her red hair and her infectious laugh. She will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Cremation rites have been accorded, and a celebration of life will be held at a later time, to be announced. Cards can be sent from and condolences left at illinicremation.com.
