Mary Elizabeth Gunnar

Mary Elizabeth Gunnar,68, of Peoria Illinois, died on May 19, 2024 at Carle Health Methodist Hospital in Peoria.  She was born in Peoria on February 15, 1956 to the late Richard and Irene Gunnar. She was also preceeded in death by three brothers: Richard, John and Edward, and one sister Louise.

Mary graduated from Woodruff high school and attended Midstate college. She worked in the Peoria County Clerk’s office as a clerk for many years until she retired and later worked part time as a cashier at Target in East Peoria.

Mary loved animals, especially cats, and shared her home with many cats over her life.

Mary is survived by one sister, Patricia Swartz, several nephews and nieces and many beloved relatives in law. She lived her whole life with her sister Louise Gunnar until Louise's passing in December of 2022 and Louise's son Richard.
