Raymond Carl Isbell

Raymond Carl Isbell, a beloved father, brother, and friend, passed away on June 14, 2024, at the age of 71. Born on November 12, 1952, in Peoria, IL, Ray grew up in Hanna City and spent many years in Sunnyland before residing in Creve Coeur.

Raymond was the son of the late Nephi and Mary Jean Isbell of Hanna City. He is survived by his partner, Kay Pettet, and his sisters, Karla Dray of Hanna City, IL, and Lori Shory (Isbell) of Jacksonville, FL. He was preceded in death by his sister, Kathy Everett, of Hanna City.

Ray is also survived by his four children: Mary Sue Hosbrough (spouse Lee) of Washington, IL, Bryan Isbell of Delevan, IL, Jeremy Isbell (spouse Beth) of Farmington, IL, and Brandon Isbell (spouse Emily) of Wauwatosa, WI. He was also a grandfather and great-grandfather to many.

With a lifelong passion for automobiles, Raymond built a career as a talented auto body repair technician. He prided himself on his unique and skilled auto body designs, and he found great joy in restoring old cars. His love for cars extended to his time working in pit crews and his enthusiasm for drag racing and street racing. Most recently, he worked at Eckstein Autobody alongside his best friend, Jerry Eckstein. Jerry and his family were Raymond's closest companions and provided significant support in his final years.

Beyond his professional life, Raymond enjoyed fishing, fossil hunting, and spending time with his friends. His hobbies reflected his adventurous spirit and his love for the simple pleasures in life.

Cremation rites have been accorded and a celebration of Raymond's life will be held at Sunnyland One Stop on June 27 from 5-7 PM.
