Richard Francis Hunt

Richard Francis Hunt, 86, of Peoria, Illinois passed away on June 8, 2023. Richard was born June 2, 1937 to James Hunt and Beulah Eubank Hunt in Peoria, Illinois. After graduating from East Peoria High School in 1955 Richard joined the United States Air Force serving from 1955 to 1958 in France. Upon returning home he served an additional 4 years in the Air National Guard in Illinois.

Following his years in the service Richard returned to Peoria where he had a long career with Hopkin’s Amoco and Beachler’s Shell in Peoria. A life-long Cardinals baseball fan Richard enjoyed following the team each year. He was an active blood doner to the American Red Cross receiving his “3 Gallon” commemorative pin as a loyal donor. Another favorite charity for Richard was the Wounded Warrior Project which he supported for many years.

Richard is survived by his Daughters Elizabeth C. Hunt Lane (Michael Stommen) (Paul Lane – Decd.) of Walton Hills, OH and Barbara A. Hunt of Creve Coeur, IL. He is also survived by his 6 Grandchildren, Richard Hunt (Stefanie Wilden Hunt), Rachel Lane (Ronald Kerkenaar), Rodger Stetler (Allison Poff Stetler), Alicia Stetler, Leslie Stetler, Nicholas Stetler and 5 Great Grandchildren, Sydney Stetler, Angel Bridgeman, Emma Hunt, Saylor Stetler and Alex Hunt.  Also, he is survived by special friend Lola Greer, widow of Richard’s long-time friend Shorty Greer who preceded him in death.

Richard has one surviving Paternal Half-Sister, Rose Hunt. He was preceded in death by his Brothers and Sisters, William Hunt (Freeda Henson Hunt), Ruby Hunt York (Garland York), Robert Hunt (Betty Hunt), James Hunt, Grace Hunt and Julia Hunt. Also preceding him in death were his Paternal Half Siblings Gladys, Anne, Donald Hunt, one Sister whose name we do not know and two Infants whose names are unknown.

A Celebration of Life Service will be scheduled at a later date.
