Richard Cunningham Newman

Richard Cunningham Newman, 63, of Harding Illinois, died on August 4, 2024 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. He was born on July 27, 1961 in Elmhurst Illinois to the late Richard and Betty (Cunningham) Newman.

 Rick was proud he served his country as a member of the United States Army. He earned his good conduct metal, army service ribbon and army achievement medal proudly. After the Army, Rick had a few odd jobs, settling down as an apartment manager. He was a hard-working man, a jack of all trades. Whatever he found interest in was his passion. He was a gun enthusiast and enjoyed watching shows about muscle cars, drag races, and western movies. Rick took an interest in politics and always enjoyed long, meaningful, philosophical conversations. He was a sociable guy who made everyone his friend and had amazing fatherly instincts to help out those in need. Rick absolutely adored his granddaughter with all his heart.

Richard is survived by his daughter Rachel (Brandon) Yorkis & granddaughter Virginia Yorkis all of Harding. Sister Ann (Bobby Ruth) Newman of Bellingham Washington.

Cremation rites have been accorded and there’ll be no services at this time. Richard will be laid to rest in the  Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery at a later date. Cards can be sent from and condolences left at illinicremation.com
