Stephen Martin Hansen

Stephen Martin (Steve) Hansen, 64, of Peoria, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 29, 2023, at his home with family by his side. Born on July 3, 1958, in Peoria, IL, he was the eldest son to the late Jack and Shirlee (Ely) Hansen. Steve married his long-time companion, Jennifer (Lauritzen), of 14 years on January 25, 2023. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, Martin (Mallory) Hansen, one daughter, Amber Leuelling, one stepdaughter, Katelin (Corey) Lopeman, two sisters, Kim (John) Blevins and Lisa (John) Gola, and nine grandchildren. Steve was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Brian Hansen.

Steve was a Peoria area native and resident his entire life, graduating from Richwoods High School in 1976. Following graduation, he dedicated over 30 years to a career working with several automotive dealerships across central Illinois, holding various positions in sales, finance, and management. For the past 13 years, he owned and operated his own lawn care and snow removal business servicing the Peoria area. Steve made many friends over the years and never failed to run into someone he knew everywhere he went. He enjoyed grilling, cooking, and was an avid Chicago Bears and Cubs fan.

Cremation Rites have been accorded and a celebration of life will be held on Sunday, May 21, 2023, at 2PM at the The Rail Splitter located in Mossville, IL. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Cards can be sent from and condolences left at illinicremation.com.
