Todd Michael Akers

Todd Michael Akers Sr., 57, of East Peoria Illinois, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2024 after his battle with brain cancer. He was born on October 3, 1966 in Peoria, Illinois to the late John and Goldie (Launius) Akers, along with David Akers(brother) who survives. He married Darlene Biegler on October 10, 1987 in Peoria. She survives.

Also surviving are his children Stephanie (Giovanni) Lopez of Germantown Hills, Todd (Kenzi) Akers Jr. of Chillicothe and grandchildren, Abram and Remi Lopez.

Todd worked for the Peoria Journal Star as the building and purchasing manager for many years and loved this job. He was also the head custodian for District 50 schools.

Todd loved to work on cars, play basketball, listen to heavy metal music, and watch old shows on TV. He loved to spend time laughing with his family and made friends wherever he went. He also loved a good hike while enjoying nature. He was always known as someone that could give you a good laugh and you could always count on him to help someone in need. He will be greatly missed.

Cremation rites have been accorded and there will  be no services at this time. Cards can be sent from and condolences left at illinicremation.com. We ask that any donations be made to The Mark Linder Walk for the Mind to help continue to find a cure for brain cancer.
