Tyrone E. Mays

Tyrone E. Mays, 50 years old, of Peoria, Illinois passed away on Sunday, May 28, 2023, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Il. He was born in Forrest City Ark., to Herman and Bertha (Brickhouse) Mays. Tyrone met and married Shaletha “Lisa” Thomson of Freeport, Il., who was the love of his life. 

Tyrone was a veteran of the Gulf War era. He served in the Army from January 20, 2004, to January 19, 2007. After his military duty, he worked as a Mechanic and a Regional Truck Driver. He loved his family and enjoyed playing basketball with his brothers and nephews, listening to music, traveling, and he was a joy to be around.

Tyrone leaves cherishing his memories, 3 stepchildren: Krystal Shipp, Damon Ship, Eric Pace, all of Peoria, Il.  2 brothers: Gary (Adelia) Mays of Stockbridge, Georgia, and Marvin Mays of Aurora, Colorado. 5 sisters: Helen Jean, (The Late Tim Ross) of San Antonia, Texas, Laura Mays, Deborah Mays, Amanda (Robert) Russell, Lisa Mays, all of Peoria, Il; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and a host of other family members and friends.

Tyrone is preceded in death by his parents Herman and Bertha Brickhouse/Mays, his wife, Shaletha Mays, an older brother, Bobby Brickhouse and a Stepdaughter, Dathel Thompson.

 

Cremation rites have been arranged and a Memorial for Tyrone Mays, will be held on Saturday July 15th @ George Washington Carver Community Center located @ 710 W Percy Baker Jr Ave.,  Peoria, Illinois between the hours of 9am to 1pm.
