Body Donation

Whole Body Donation

Medical students never forget their first patients. The introduction occurs during first-year anatomy class in a well-lit, sterile room where rows of cadavers wrapped in muslin lay on metal tables.

“Meeting the first patient — a donor human body — is considered such a seminal moment in becoming a doctor,”

This is an example of one  the many different ways that your loved one may assist in educating our future medical personnel on the structure and form of the human anatomy. They may instruct on the path of a disease or how to repair or avoid an injury. The gift of their body is a gracious and benevolent for anyone to do. Your loved one will be treated with dignity and respect as a rare educator, called the Corpus doctrina.

Lamplight Donor Services is a whole body Donation service that we work with to help facilitate at no cost to you the donation of your loved ones body to Medical Science. Your loved one will help educate students for 3-6 months, after their service, cremation is accorded and a portion of the cremains are returned to the family. Sometimes samples, slides and examples are kept for future training. At time of donation, Illini cremation will also help procure government documents for you and the donor company. Certified copies of the death certificates, an urn, obituary, and video memorialization are available at additional cost. The cremation, transportation, and documents needed for the donation are paid for by Lamplight.
